Members of the Management Committee were elected at the annual Governors’ meetings and they met every week.  There was also a monthly meeting of the Committee, but often there was no business for the monthly meeting.  At the weekly meetings the Committee would receive the Visitors’ Report and appoint (usually two) visitors for the ensuing week.  They would then examine the applicants for in-patient and out-patient treatment (some of whom were rejected), and record details of the in-patients discharged.

The Committee also appointed domestic and nursing staff, agreed pay rises, accepted tenders for provisions and signed cheques.  At the end of the year the Committee prepared a report for the Governors.
