  1. “SUICIDE. – On Sunday morning, last week, James Lester, of this town, attempted his life by cutting his throat with a razor.  He was discovered when engaged in the fatal act, and was immediately removed to the Dorset County Hospital, where every means were used suitable to his case, but the unfortunate man lingered till Wednesday, when death released him from his sufferings.  The deceased was an old man, and had been engaged as a brazier, &c., for half a century in one family; but for some time past he had shown symptoms of despondency.” [Sherborne Mercury, 13/02/1855, p. 3]
