  1. “Lydlinch. – A cruel robbery was perpetrated in this parish on the night of Friday last. A poor man, named John Mogg, who is lying on a bed of serious illness, having been sent home from the Dorset County Hospital as incurable, has for some time past kept a few fowls on his premises, and on the night above mentioned, some hardened thief entered the house and carried off the whole three in number.” [Sherborne Mercury, 31/12/1850, p. 4]
